I have a question. In Texas we have ethics rules. One of those being no gifts over a certain amount per year for clients. My question is, is it ethical to -- for lack of better words -- help one side (typically plf) fund their cases by letting them pay when their case settles, or if they win? In my opinion, to be considered impartial, shouldn't this be offered to all parties in the case? When their client pays, then they can pay the reporting firm? I am not a fan of this. I think the depo should be paid for upon delivery.
With that being said, when we go to the grocery store, we have to pay for the food before leaving. We have to pay our phone, electricity, cable bills, etc.
It seems like this giving credit to law firms shows impartiality. Any thoughts?
